Great tradition to have started and brought back. When my grandma was getting into her 90's, she asked if there was anything in her home that I wanted her to set aside for me. I asked for a few old pictures of when they [her and grandpa] were young, and any of her recipes that were in her handwriting. I didn't get many, but the few were enough to share with my daughter and make for her family. "Let's see what great-grandma would have made today"

Love that story. I often wonder what will happen to my “treasures”—valued by me but perhaps not the next generation. We don’t have kids, so I am hoping that some of my adult nieces and nephew will want some of these pieces of history (especially old photographs!) that tell a family’s story.

This was sweet in so many ways. I don’t have a huge collection of cookbooks but I do have my favorites. I also just bought Tom collicchios WHY I COOK…because I love the idea of the stories behind the food. Also making a time to cook together is precious. May have to do this.

Thank you Rachel! It’s worth a try even with one book to discover a recipe you might have overlooked 😊
