SmallTalk #16 - Uniqueness
what makes you stand out?
As our SmallStack Library continues to grow with hundreds of unique publications, this is the perfect time to talk about what makes you and your publication really stand apart from the crowd. Does this help you grow? Absolutely! But it also helps the right audience find you and the things you create, which matters even if you don’t care about hitting those big subscriber numbers.
The SmallStack Library features 22 distinct categories in which your publication can be listed. But that’s not all! You can also use up to four tags to show what makes your publication different, unique, and worth a glance. In today’s SmallTalk, tell us how you use categories and tags to showcase what makes your publication special.
Tell us what makes your publication unique!
What category are you listed under, and why?
How do you use tags to help your audience find you?
We’ll keep this SmallTalk open through Friday, March 28th.
And if you haven’t yet joined the SmallStack Library, or if your publication listing could use an update, this is the perfect time to use our form and make those dreams come alive!
SmallTalk is here for you! This is your space to build relationships, share your thoughts, and grow together. A few reminders to help you get the most out of this space:
Sharing is caring! Unless otherwise stated, you are always welcome to include a link to a post—by you or someone you admire—to help others find great resources or information. Whether you wrote it or love it, we want to see it!
Leave a note. Original comments to the thread can also be shared as a note if you click on the little box at the lower left.
Make new friends. This is a place where beautiful collaborations are born. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, celebrate each others’ wins, and reach out to people you’d like to collaborate with. We’re all supporting each other here.

I'm listed under the food and cooking category and added the culture tag. What makes me unique is that I come at things from my background as a Belgian pastry chef and talk about food history as well.
I'm listed under Health & Wellness and Education. My purpose for my publication 'You Are Not Alone' is to inform, spark motivation, hope, and introspection for woman navigating midlife. What makes my publication unique is that I have over 30 years of experience teaching somatic movement, travelling worldwide and hosting wellness retreats. Through my self-led yoga studies my hope is that my essays will serve as little reminders for my readers to carve out precious 'me time' for self-care away from all the noise of life. I share audios for 'moving inwards', these are exercises designed to take with you when you are next on your yoga mat. Here is an example of one of my recent essays Solitude vs Loneliness https://traceyfenner.substack.com/p/solitude-vs-loneliness. Through this process we get to practice listening, to be who we are, and creatively explore who we want to be.
