Akos, I devoured it! Your review was spot on, the movie did not disappoint. 🙏
One theme I’d add to your review is how Benson latching onto Bradley seemed to be a way to deflect from dealing with his own issues (shown with the interaction with Bensons own former teacher).
If anything, it’s a picture of how extreme things can get if we don’t do the work to deal with our OWN shit :)
Yes, absolutely. My memory is a little hazy since I watched this over a year ago, but I think you're right. Also, if I remember correctly, Benson pretty much knew from the moment he pulled his shotgun out that if he does this, he'll be caught or killed very soon -- but until then, he wanted to have some vicious fun and also help a loser like Bradley. I mean, he's a psycho, but not everything that comes out of his mouth is crazy. He makes a few a thought-provoking points.
Also, I highly recommend Strange Darling if you liked Kyle Gallner in this one. He might be even better in that movie.
Akos, this is a fascinating analysis of *The Passenger*! Your review dives deeply into the complexities of trauma and forgiveness, particularly how these themes unfold in unexpected ways for both characters. I appreciate how you explore Benson's twisted intentions and Bradley’s reluctant journey toward self-discovery—it’s an intense exploration of trauma as both a challenge and a catalyst for personal growth.
I'm especially intrigued by how the film positions forgiveness and self-confrontation through such an unconventional, even violent lens. This portrayal offers a unique angle on personal transformation that goes beyond typical narratives. Thank you for bringing this nuanced take to life; it’s definitely a thought-provoking read.
Excellent movie review. Thought provoking. And I agree. The first season of True Detective is a masterpiece.
Thanks so much, Alexis.
I'm glad to meet another devoted TD S1 fan. Rust and Marty just hit different.
Yes, the other seasons were very good. But that first season was transcendent.
Time between me reading this article and finding the movie the movie to stream: 30 seconds
Haha, I'm glad I piqued your interest. It's a phenomenal and criminally underseen movie, for sure.

Oooo thanks, I will check it out!
I was expecting a gory outcome in the stuffed animal shop. Not sure why my brain went there. 🤦🏻♀️ I definitely need to watch it.
