Discover more from SmallStack
Hey there, SmallStack friends! This is Robin, just one voice among many in the SmallStack crew these days. We’ve had a lot of things happening with SmallStack behind the scenes, and today’s post will bring you up to speed on all the latest information.
SmallStack is Two Months Old!
This is hard to believe, but SmallStack only just started on May 15th of this year. We passed our two-month birthday earlier this week, and I’m still surprised at just how much we’ve grown in that short amount of time. For those of you who have been with us from the start, your likes, comments, and shares have powered us into a lot of places where small creators can find us. But there are still plenty more who don’t know we are here, so share us widely with your subscribers, your friends, your writing groups, and anyone looking to find a community of small publications.
Hey you! Subscribe!
But first, here’s a reminder to subscribe to SmallStack! If you’re a visitor here, we hope you decide to subscribe and come back often to find some of the best content that substack has to offer. SmallStack highlights the smaller publications and gives them a voice in this big, big world. Our Library is open to any publication on substack with fewer than 1,000 subscribers, and we will be showcasing our smallest publications—those with fewer than 500 subscribers—through Featured Posts. Both of these projects will go live in September.
Paid subscribers help us with all of the costs that are helping us build a world-class online Library to feature your work. Where would we be without that kind of support?? Completely lost! You can become a paid subscriber today for just $2.50 per month or $25 for a year.
SmallTalk
We’ve had some incredible conversations happening in this week’s SmallTalk about our publication names. If you haven’t contributed your origin story yet, there’s still plenty of time! Due to the popularity of this discussion, we’re keeping it open through the weekend. This is your invitation to tell us about how you came up with the name for your publication, and you can point us to a link for a post that gives us even more detail. A few folks have written a new post specifically for this conversation, and you can, too. We can’t wait to hear your story!
Guest Posts
Our Guest Posts have already shown the unique and heartfelt community growing here at SmallStack. Next week we’re hosting a revelatory essay by
on Wednesday, July 24. I’ve been excited about this Guest Post from the moment I read the pitch, and I can’t wait for you to enjoy it as much as I have.If you’ve enjoyed our Guest Post series so far, you might be thinking of pitching your idea to us! We’ve gotten such an incredible response to our call for Guest Posts that we will be closing the pitch process next Friday, July 26. Think of this as some gentle encouragement to get your pitch to us soon! Pitches for Guest Posts won’t be closed forever. Keep your eye on our Guest Post page for more information, and we’ll put out a big announcement when we reopen that process.
For those of you who have submitted pitches or drafts to us, our team of outstanding volunteers will be reaching out to you soon.
Volunteers
And where would I be without all of these awesome volunteers around me? Well I certainly wouldn’t look or sound nearly as calm as I do right now. This is my moment to extend a very big THANK YOU to all ten of the volunteers who are busily helping me make the SmallStack Library, Featured Posts, Guest Posts, and SmallTalk threads a reality for the community. To learn more about these cool people, and to follow all of their creative publications, head over to our Team Page.
In no small measure,
Robin Taylor, SmallStack Founder
